 Welcome to the Principal’s Office

Thanks for stopping by!  I know how difficult making the right educational decisions for your child(ren) can be.  There are so many variables, you can easily succumb to “information overload”.  Perhaps I can offer a few helpful guidelines that are incorporated in the philosophy of education we embrace at Holy Family School.
First, parents are – and will always remain – the primary educators of their children.  That trust is never transferred to an institution of learning.  At Holy Family School, we realize that we establish a partnership with parents in the awesome responsibility of guiding each individual child’s journey to becoming the person God means for her or him to be.  So it is very important that the school’s goals and values align with your objectives for your child.
Holy Family School believes deeply in the holistic development of each unique student.  Academic excellence and athletic prowess are complemented by spiritual and faith formation, social and emotional intelligence, and the purposeful nurturing of values and character.
Secondly, beyond facilities and resources, the “school climate” – that unique “personality” of a school – plays an enormous role in determining the quality of a child’s developmental and educational experiences.  This “culture of the school”, difficult to quantify, but pervasive, impacts the student’s readiness to learn, comfort level, and sense of self.
The administration, faculty, and staff at Holy Family School share in the fundamental responsibility to be ministers of God’s love, hope, and peace.  Through an individual understanding of each child, we encourage, recognize, and support his or her personal development.  Teachers know the wisdom in the adage, “students do not care what you know until they know that you care.”  Maintaining a caring, respectful, and supportive school climate is a high priority for those who labor and love at HFS.
Lastly, schools must be more than four walls.  Opportunities to share in the cultural, artistic, and intellectual resources of the “greater schoolhouse” – the community – should be a vital part of the school’s message that learning is a life-long endeavor.
Holy Family School maintains – and expands – its community networking each year. Just a few current collaborative learning programs involve our students with Morris Museum, the Florham Park Players, and Saint Elizabeth’s College.  Christian Service opportunities involve our students in different Out-Reach projects monthly.
I hope these thoughts have been helpful.  If our goals and philosophy reflects yours, I invite you to contact me about a personal interview and school tour.  Perhaps your family can become part of our Holy Family!
     Sincerely,

     Jim Duris, Principal
